'Scheduled Castes', and 'Scheduled Tribes' these unfortunates are practically trapped in a continuous cycle of poverty, misery and hopelessness. They comprise the poorest of the poor, the weakest of the weak and have been the most downtrodden members of the society for so long, it's almost considered normal. We knew we had to act to help alleviate the plight of this truly unfortunate people whose only 'mistake' was to be born into the wrong caste. So, in 1996, we took on the task of doing something about this huge injustice. Our aim then?and still is?is to improve social & economical status of these communities. More than just a band-aid attempt to help, we considered it more prudent to help them help themselves and thus break the cycle of poverty. And so, an organization named The Karnataka State Harijan Girijan Rural Development Organization ? Rendering was formed. In order to maintain its integrity. All our workers are experienced in social work but more importantly, they are strongly motivated by a desire to help and are gifted with a strong dedication to selflessly provide for weaker section of the community in the society. In participating in service in rural development activity, they have made tremendous sacrifices to to be part of this process. Indeed, they share our philosophy which is to teach the people society has rejected life-long and life-saving skills to enable them to fit into the social structure of the country. The State & Local Governments, along with individual as well as Corporate cash donations have helped us get started. In addition, we have had a steady stream of volunteers who share our ideals: health services, education, poverty alleviation, welfare for the disabled, women and children, agricultural and environment self-sustaining concerns.
