About the Project

Sambodhi , in collaboration with PRADAN, is providing the technical assistance and MEL support to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand SRLMs. The aim of this collaboration is to diversify women's livelihoods which aims at bringing about significant improvement in the livelihoods of rural women. Three core development focuses of the project are increasing women's adoption of improved market-driven livelihood models, enhancing economic well-being and income by engaging in different farm, off-farm livelihood activities, and accessing livelihood assets through departmental convergence. Over three years, the project aims to empower 10 lakh women entrepreneurs in the Indian states of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand and enable them to earn an annual gross income of up to 1.5 lakh rupees. The project will support the following interventions:

1. Enhancing the capacity of the SRLM staff and cadre to help improve the livelihood of rural women.

2. Strengthen the existing institutional mechanisms of the SRLMs.

3. Enable departmental convergence for the allocation of funds for the creation of livelihood assets.

4. Expanding market access and supporting enterprise growth

Job description :

Job Title : Project Consultant

Job Location : Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Raipur (Chhattisgarh)

No. of Positions: 2 (1 in Ranchi and 1 in Raipur)

Job Summary:

Sambodhi is currently looking to hire Project Consultant to provide technical and operational support to our evaluation, research and technical assistance projects across India. The position is based in Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Raipur (Chhattisgarh) which involves frequent visits to client offices in both the locations. The work-mix includes project management, execution, and business development. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to contribute to high quality multi-input development programs.

Essential :

Functions

The candidate will perform the following key functions:

• Overall coordination of projects including client liaison, coordination with field, data and support teams, and visit to client offices.

• Prepare comprehensive and accurate resource plans for project activities detailing human, financial and time requirements

• Manage project implementation and ensure data quality with active involvement in the pre-data collection stage including

1. Development, pretesting and finalization of collection instruments and protocols

2. Support in recruitment and selection of field teams

3. Deliver training to field teams

4. Implement sampling strategy including sample distribution

5. Conduct field practice and debriefing sessions for field teams

• Travel extensively to different project locations for monitoring of data collection and field activities

• Collect data and prepare comprehensive data analysis plans and protocols

• Analyze data using appropriate software programs viz. SPSS, STATA, SAS, EXCEL, CS Pro, Survey Solutions, Survey CTO, ATLAS.ti.

• Prepare detailed reports to document research findings

• Make and deliver presentations of reports/proposals to clients/potential clients.

• Develop learning products for internal and external dissemination.

• Develop proposals including qualitative and quantitative methodologies in response to request from clients/potential clients.

The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary. Other duties may be assigned like the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Desired profile:

Education: Postgraduate Degree in Rural Management, Social Sciences, Social Work, Public Policy, Economics, or related discipline

Experience : 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience in Social Research & Advisory or Monitoring & Evaluation domains

Language: Hindi and English

Personal Competencies:

• Knowledge of Research, Evaluation, Data Analysis and related aspects

• Thematic understanding of various sectors in the social and development domain

• Ability to lead, plan and manage a complex set of activities

• Ability to operate effectively in teams

• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

• Willingness to travel extensively

• High level of involvement, engagement and ownership

• Strong time management skill and ability to prioritize

• Strong interpersonal and negotiation ability

• Experience of working with Government departments, especially in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand and their respective SRLMs.
