Statement of the Job: The Human Resource Training Department of KIRAN Society invite applications for Lecturer in Human Resource Training Department, with an anticipated start date of July 15, 2024. The individual selected for this position will serve as a faculty member of the undergraduate teacher education program. Under graduates from this department are expected to meet the increasing demands of a highly diverse elementary and middle school population. Therefore, we seek a colleague who shares the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and can add to the level of preparation of our under graduates to successfully teach in our rapidly changing society. It is our goal to prepare special education professionals who will contribute to the positive development of all persons and to foster the development of effective schools for all children and youth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will report to the Head of Department and be affiliated with faculty in the teacher’s training program. Faculty members share responsibility for programmatic and instructional decisions within and across program options. The position carries a typical 1:15 teaching load for lecturers. We seek someone with a strong background in Deaf-blind methodology, teacher education, effective practices that promote inclusion and behaviour management. Preference will be given to candidates who can work collaboratively across disciplines to address the education of diverse students living in rural / urban environments.

The successful candidate will be expected to –

• Teach in undergraduate special education courses, and other education related courses

• Able to perform on digital literacy platform

• Innovative at online and in-person teaching

• Advise students in the early intervention /early childhood special education

• Support in the departmental educational administration

• And build professional relationships with other institutes working in the field of disability.

About the Organization: KIRAN is a Non-governmental Organisation, established in the year 1990. Since the beginning, it is working for health, education, social and economic development of the person with disabilities and other weaker sections of the society. KIRAN is committed to put efforts to uplift the under privileged rural and urban community and contribute towards sustainable development. Over the past 33 years, Kiran has worked to identify the needs and meet the desire of the person with disabilities, and other marginalized sections of society through participatory and inclusive approaches in development. Health, education, vocational trainings, and awareness raising on importance of prevention and early detection, physical rehabilitation, non-formal, and formal education, women empowerment programmes, child care, community health care, income generation activities, poverty alleviation, vocational and skill development, human resource development, promotion of local Institutions and involvement of the institutions in development activities are the major thrust areas of the organisation.

Qualifications required:

• B.Ed. Spl. Ed (Deafblind) or D.Ed.SE (Db) in Special Education with 5 years or 10 years of experience respectively

• Demonstrated potential for success in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels

• Commitment to contributing to academic program development at undergraduate and graduate levels

• Strong background in early intervention / early childhood special education • Ability to support program advising

• Ability to teach in-person and online classes

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience of having effective practices that promote inclusion and behaviour management
