Job Description for Centre Head
CAPI is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. As the Centre Head, you will lead the organization’s ongoing research initiatives involving both qualitative and quantitative research projects and manage the operations and administration of a growing nonprofit.
This role is suited for someone with strategic vision, leadership skills, a deep understanding of India’s developmental challenges, ability to take initiative and deliver on projects, and multitask. You will have the opportunity to grow a small but high-powered nonprofit develop into a thought leader and influential voice within the philanthropic and social sector in India.
Role and Responsibilities:
Lead the design and planning of a range of research projects including writing research proposals.
Execute and manage the research process, including mentoring junior team members.
Lead qualitative and quantitative research through methods such as interviews, expert consultations, surveys, literature reviews and so on.
Write and edit research reports and articles for publication consistent with the high standard expected at CAPI.
Help nurture and grow research partnerships across India.
Participate in conferences, events, and meetings across the region to disseminate research findings and be an ambassador for CAPI.
Work closely with CAPI’s knowledge partner based in Hong Kong, the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) to share knowledge and information on the Indian philanthropic and doing good sector, collaborate on research projects and dissemination of published reports.
Supervise and manage the operations and administration of the CAPI office in Parel, Mumbai. Tasks include:
annual budget and finance planning, keeping track of expenditure, project finances in coordination with an external finance and audit team
Liaising with donors and fundraising for the long term.
Vendor management, hiring, and onboarding of new consultants/recruits on a needs basis.
Growing CAPI’s social media presence and branding, managing CAPI’s website.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is someone with at least 10 years’ work experience (preferably in the social sector or in a research role), who has exceptional writing and communication skills, and can lead projects with a high level of autonomy.
Master’s degree in the social sciences, business or humanities.
10+ years of experience in research/writing or related fields.
Excellent writing, editing, and critical thinking skills.
Extensive experience using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Ability to connect the dots and see patterns when analyzing quantitative and qualitative information.
Ability to transform insights into sharply focused, digestible output.
Project management skills refined through extensive experience in planning and managing large-scale research projects with high levels of autonomy, and stakeholder management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Additionally, the successful candidate will have:
Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized and juggle multiple priorities.
Passion for comparative research with a curious mind to tackling new questions and exploring unfamiliar areas,
Demonstrable interest in philanthropy/nonprofit/social sectors.
