The Centre for Research on Start-ups and Risk Financing, an Institute of Eminence-Research Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras is a hub for scholarly research in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, and risk financing. CREST aims to use evidence to guide policy making, uncover new ground leading to publications in top-tier journals and is involved in various ongoing and completed projects related to start-ups and innovation. CREST is currently accepting applications for the position of Research Associate to support a research study on start-ups. The role involves organizing and managing both quantitative and qualitative data, performing content analysis, analysing data to derive insights, and assisting in the preparation of findings reports. Applicants should possess strong research and writing skills. The Research Associate will work under the supervision of a faculty advisor and the Principal Project Scientist.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and desk-based secondary research

• Verifying the accuracy and validity of data and correcting errors when needed.

• Conduct content analysis of qualitative data

• Assisting in the interpretation and analysis of research findings

• Assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations

• Coordinate with data collection partners during fieldwork

• Performing any other reasonable duties related to the project.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in working within a research team

• Should be based out of Chennai

• Strong analytical and research skills, with experience in data collection and analysis.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

• Proficiency in statistical software and data visualization tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to work under minimal supervision

• Self-driven with a focus on targets and results

• Proficient in English and Tamil language
