Job Description

We are recruiting for exciting programs, including research interventions on the impact of gender-based discrimination and violence on mobility, education, and access to resources for rural women and girls in Gujarat. This position is open to women only.

About SWATI:

The Society for Women’s Action and Training Initiatives (www.swati.org.in) works to secure the rights of women and other marginalized citizens in rural regions of Gujarat (www.swati.org.in). SWATI achieves its goals by building women’s leadership, engaging men and boys, community outreach, setting up alternative dispute resolution systems, enabling access to counselling, legal aid and survivor support services, and working with the public health system and with GPs to enhance their responsiveness to gender-based discrimination. Through these means, it serves and reaches out to a population of over two hundred thousand (200 GPs and three municipalities) in three districts.

Work Description

We are looking to hire program leads to strengthen and expand our reach and work on gender-responsive governance and the health sector's response to violence against women.

Position Overview: SWATI is seeking a dedicated and experienced program director (women only) to lead our efforts in advancing gender equality and social justice. The Program Director will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs focused on gender-responsive governance and the health sector's response to violence against women. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a commitment to inclusive development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead overall program management, including donor coordination, proposal writing, and budgetary planning.

• Provide guidance and support for reporting and data management across key projects.

• Diversify the fundraising portfolio through effective proposal writing and resource mobilization efforts.

• Mentor teams and build capacity for outcome-based planning and delivery.

• Monitor program deliverables and ensure adherence to project timelines and objectives.

• Network with civil society organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and maximize impact.

Required Qualifications:

1. The candidate should have a Master's degree in social work, gender studies, or a related field.

2. A minimum of eight years of experience in leading and managing teams in gender-based violence and social justice programs is required.

3. Have a strong understanding of gender, gender-based violence, and discrimination.

4. Proven track record in training and capacity-building of teams.

5. Excellent writing and communication skills.

6. Proficiency in digital mediums for data management and reporting.

7. Willingness to travel as needed.

8. Proficiency in Hindi and working knowledge of Gujarati.
