1) Maintain confidentiality of records relating to children' treatment.
2) Encourage children to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, helping them to develop insight into themselves or their relationships.
3) Collect information about children through interviews, observation, or tests.
4) Counsel children , individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes.
5) Guide children in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems.
6) Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
7) Participate in home management and child care duties with staff.
8) Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
9) Evaluate children' physical or mental condition, based on review of client information.
10) Perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans.
11) Refer child to psychiatrist when required.
12) Plan group session for children and maintain reports.
13) Modify treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in children' status.
14) Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting children or patients.
15) Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on children' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
16) Meet with families, W.O, police, or other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
17) Plan, organize, or lead structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation, or social activities for children.
18) Plan or conduct programs to prevent substance abuse or improve community health or counseling services.
19) Learn about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending training and maintaining contact with other social service agencies
Qualifications:
Masters in Child Psychology/Counselling
Prior counselling experience and exposure to children in need of care and protection is preferred for more than 2 years.
