LicaQualification required: MBBS, if quailified from foreign need to registered under FGME and MCI.
Roles and responsibilities:
• Supervising: Staff Nurse / Pharmacist
• To run the out-patient clinic of MHV sites; listening to and examining the patients coming for medical care and to prescribe appropriate medicines as per standard clinical norms.
• Take a full history and carry out physical examination of the patients.
• Prescribe medicines as appropriate, ensuring that:
The patient, and an attendant in case the patient is disabled in this regard, comprehends the need, dosages, schedule and side-effects of the medicines prescribes.
The use of medicines is minimized (rational use of drugs), both in quantity and variety
Effective and harmless alternative non-drug therapies are tried first or together with medicines so as to reduce side-effects, increased pill load and cost.
• Document history, findings and prescriptions on prescribed cards and record.
• Refer those cases that are in need of advance investigations, hospitalization and/ or any other care that cannot be treated by the MHV to appropriate referral healthcare centers.
• Make home visits on a routine basis, especially to those of very sick, bed-ridden and disabled elderly in the site who have been identified by local volunteers and MHV staff.
• Provide these clinical services in a user-friendly manner that is reassuring to the patients and to their families, spending time, explaining in detail and being tactile as necessary.
• Provide group counselling to all beneficiaries at the MHV sites on health topics.
• Support district appropriate authorities during unforeseen situations like doctor’s strike, disease outbreaks and epidemic outbreaks and inform all concerned.
• Provide Technical inputs and act as facilitator to aware community on public health issues and selected themes.
