Job Title: Regional Coordinator, Vector-Borne Disease (Malaria, Dengue, and Chikungunya)

Centre for Health Research and Innovation (CHRI), a PATH affiliate, has been implementing various projects in coordination with MoHFW, India from past 7 years. CHRI is currently recruiting Regional Coordinators in Bareilly, Lucknow, and Kanpur for supporting control and prevention of Dengue-Chikungunya, and Malaria elimination programme in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Job Overview:
As the Regional Coordinator for Vector-Borne Disease Control, you will be instrumental in leading the efforts to monitor, prevent, and control vector-borne diseases within the designated area. You will coordinate with various stakeholders including government bodies, healthcare facilities, and community organizations to implement effective disease control strategies planned at the state and division.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Management:
• Design and implement comprehensive vector control strategies.
• Oversee surveillance of malaria, dengue, and chikungunya and their incidence.
• Manage the resources, and personnel of vector control programs.
• Evaluate program effectiveness within the division and adapt strategies as needed.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Coordinate with local, state, and national public health organizations to align vector control effort.
• Engage and strengthen partnership with various intersectoral departments.
• Multi-level programmatic advocacy.
• Coordination with partners and intra & inter departments for short/ long term plans.
• Engage with community leaders and the public to raise awareness about prevention methods.
• Represent the division in cross-sector meetings and conferences.
3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Collect and analyse data related to event & disease surveillance and plan control activities.
• Prepare reports for government agencies, funders, and other stakeholders.
• Use data to inform public health recommendations and policy.
4. Training and Development:
• Develop and deliver training programs for multi-level staff and local communities on vector control practices.
• Division level training of Medical and para-medical staff on diagnosis and case management of Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya.
• Training of VBD staff on outbreak response
• Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in vector-borne diseases and control methods.
• Strengthening of Entomological unit through need-based trainings and periodic reviews.
• Ensure team compliance with state and national health guidelines.
5. Outbreak Response:
• Lead outbreak response efforts for outbreaks of vector-borne diseases.
• Coordinate rapid assessment and response teams during potential outbreak or outbreak.
• Support the govt. in outbreak investigation & management.
• Support & monitor in implementation of vector control measures to quickly reduce disease spread.
6. Supportive Supervision:
• Frequent travel within the division and sometimes to the state.
• Monitor and provide supportive supervision to various ongoing programmatic interventions within the division.
• Sharing visit report with the government officials and the state team for every visit.
• Support in organizing state and division level meetings/conferences in coordination with CHRI state level technical officials.
7. Any other task given by the government and senior CHRI officials.
Required Qualifications:
• Preferably MBBS with 1- 2 years of experience working in similar role, MD/MPH is an added advantage.
• Or BDS with MPH and 3-4 years of working experience in public health program.
• Considerable experience in public health, particularly in vector borne diseases in Uttar Pradesh is an added advantage.
• Experience of working with state government, NGO/CBO will be preferred.
• Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in computer usage, data analysis and reporting with familiarity in relevant software (MS Word, Excel etc.).
