COMPANY OVERVIEW
Anushkaa Foundation for Eliminating Clubfoot’s (AFEC) purpose is transforming young lives to flourish and unleash their potential. We are working to address the problem of untreated clubfoot in India.
Clubfoot is a congenital birth defect wherein one or both the feet are turned inwards, making it a leading cause of disability in children in the developing world. Based on global estimates, it was estimated more than 85% of the children in low-and middle-income countries do not have access to quality clubfoot treatment.
Clubfoot has an incidence rate of 1 in 800 births, making it one of the largest causes of disability in children in the developing world. In India approximately 33,000 children are born with clubfoot every year i.e., almost 19% of the total global clubfoot births.
Untreated clubfoot makes it painful and difficult to walk, and such patients are at a higher risk of discrimination, neglect, sexual and physical abuse, isolation, abandonment, loss of opportunities including education and several other negative socio-economic effects on their lives.
AFEC is present in 156 districts across Ten (11) states, (Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Panjab, Haryana, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand and Maharashtra).
AFEC implements its program in partnership with the government. It also partners with select charitable/trust hospitals.
We are led by experts in the field of non-profit management and a board of directors composed of Indian business leaders.
Position Summary
The Program Executive will be based at a Clubfoot Clinic situated in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. The position will be responsible for oversight of clinic support services and will report to the Branch Manager.
The Program Executive will actively work with Branch Manager, clinic physicians, and other Program Executive’s to support good clubfoot management including parent education and community outreach, data collection, and clinic flow Parent understanding of clubfoot treatment is crucial for its success. Program Executive create open and supportive relationships with families so that they feel safe asking questions and feel supported throughout treatment. They liaison between the family and physicians so that the parents fully understand their role in making the treatment successful.
Key Responsibilities
Provide parent/family support services.
• Provide parents with treatment orientation on their first clinic visit.
• Ensure that parents are educated about all phases and aspects of treatment.
• Identify and provide support to parents on site at critical stages as well as address all cases of non- compliance.
• Teach parents how to use the club foot brace and ensure proper fit.
• Remind parents of appointments and follow-up when they miss their appointments.
• Facilitate smooth clinic flow for parents during the clinic day.
• Make regular calls to patients for checkup reminders, and to provide support throughout treatment.
• Conduct home visits to patients who miss treatment.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patients and their families’ information.
Organizing and managing the clubfoot clinic day(s)
• Provide operational support to physicians/ providers during the clinic.
• Maintain an organized and up to date inventory control to ensure that the clinic has an adequate stock of treatment supplies and/or braces.
• Submit monthly/ quarterly supplies request based on inventory control.
• Maintain correct and timely information in paper records, data entry into mobile app and other software / MS Excel where required as per the project requirement.
• Maintain regular communication with the Program Manager on any matter regarding clinic performance.
Community awareness and outreach
• Actively participate in community outreach activities, awareness campaigns and training
• Identify and engage community leaders who can provide community awareness and parent support.
• Work with Branch Manager to provide basic training to Health intermediaries like ASHA workers, Community intermediaries like Anganwadi workers, ward panch / sarpanch and others.
• Visit community influencers, community intermediaries during village visits, urban ward visits to identify untreated new and old cases.
• Celebrate the World clubfoot day by organizing local events.
• Identify opportunities to increase awareness amongst schools and colleges.
Programme support activities
• Provide support to the team in arranging logistics during the onsite training.
• Ensure that all sites have adequate communication materials, MIS forms etc. and the correct usage.
• Liaise with Block level health functionaries for follow up with ASHAs/AWW/ANM and their supervisors regarding increasing awareness in the community.
• Any other tasks provided to you by supervisor as part of the program.
COMPETENCIES
Level of Education Any Graduate/Undergraduate
Experience:
1. 1-4 years of experience in Public Health or Community Engagement domain.
2. Willing to travel
3. Ability to network and influence
4. Familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, Use off Smartphone& Laptop Comfortable with data management.
