Gyan Prakash Foundation (GPF) is a registered non-profit organization which exists to improve quality of education in Rural Government Schools by working in alignment with the education policies and programs of the state and central government. Our core areas of focus are enhancing learning through school, cluster, block and district level processes and building ownership of PRIs in Education at all the three tiers (i.e. Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad).

Position

District Lead - Maharashtra will lead in the assigned district and/or block. This is a unique opportunity to facilitate transformation of Zilla Parishad schools by working closely with the Education department and to be part of the movement to empower and enhance role of PRI institutions in Education. The person is responsible for implementation of organization’s approach in the district. Selected candidate will stay in the assigned district and/or block.

Key responsibilities

Implement systemic change approach in the cluster, block and district to ensure ownership and sustainability of quality of learning.

Work with existing government administrative and academic structure in the district to drive competency-based learning.

Enable the stakeholders to make databased decisions to track, support and improve learning level.

Facilitate implementation of a common data platform for the ecosystem so there is a shared understanding of status of education amongst the stakeholders.

Work with School Management Committees, PRI members at Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and ZP level to help them understand the perspective towards learning and take lead in movement of sustainable learning.

Work with HMs, teachers, Kendra Pramukhs, District Institute for Education and Training (DIETs) and the block officials for strengthening the competency-based learning approach.

Liaison and coordination with key stakeholders at each level such as CEO, DEO, DIET, BEOs, BDOs, KPs and HMs for convergent action for supporting learning.

Contribute to organizational knowledge base with the best practices in implementing competency based learning processes, system driven and data driven decision making and community ownership of education.

Upholding the ‘image’ of Gyan Prakash Foundation as a social and responsible organization, dedicated to improve quality of education.

Education & Experience

A post graduate in Social Sciences/ Social Work

More than 5 years of substantial experience in Education and/or community mobilization/ PRIs

Proven collaborative work with the DIET and District administration.

Professional Competencies

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively.

Strong domain knowledge of Education and/or PRI functioning and processes

Sound understanding of the status of Education and the Government system

Ability to plan and think strategically and work independently

Excellent co-ordination, influencing and negotiation skills.

Excellent report writing and documentation skills

Proficiency in MS office and internet usage

To succeed in the desired role, you will require key personal attributes like agility, willingness to learn, resourcefulness, integrity, ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, willingness to travel extensively and conviction to bring about change in Education.
