‘District Manager’ for Project- Strengthening Farm based Livelihoods through Scale-up support to FPOs for Agri Value Chain and Market System Development
Background
Institute of Livelihood Research and Training - ILRT (www.ilrtindia.org) is an academic institution promoted by Basix Social Enterprise Group (Basix SEG) to address the needs of the development sector through engagement in systematic research, capacity building, action research including piloting innovations and policy advocacy on livelihood promotion and related issues in India and outside. The major mandate of ILRT is to build scientific knowledge base on livelihood and disseminate the same to practitioners, planners, and policy makers so that their action can lead promotion of large number of sustainable livelihoods for the poor including women, tribal and other weaker sections of society living in rural and urban areas.
ILRT is initiating an project titled “Strengthening Farm based Livelihoods through Scale-up support to FPOs for Agri Value Chain and Market System Development in Chhindwara, Nashik, Ratnagiri, and Silvassa Districts: An Initiative under Prabhat, A Community Initiative of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). The project intends to promote Farm based livelihoods.
Job Description:
ILRT is seeking a dynamic and experienced District Manager to lead our FPO Business Development Project Operations across Nashik. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating activities to drive growth, sustainability, and impact within the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) business of 10 FPOs in Sinnar.
Key Responsibilities:
This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the role and is not exhaustive. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the overall objectives of the FPO Business Development Project.
The responsibility of the District Manager is to promote Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) and establish the required systems and processes for internal governance and management—production, marketing, finance, MIS and statutory compliance—to sustain the organization and provide significant benefit to its members.
Facilitating process and develop systems for regular board meeting, statutory compliance and other governance procedures duly following the best practices.
Prepare a Business development proposal and detailed road maps for FPOs
Building linkages with stakeholders relevant to the FPO ecosystem.
Ensuring achievement of farm productivity standards of the farmers
Setting systems for input procurement and distribution, output aggregation, and training farmers.
Building input and output market linkages and linkage with minimum support price and insurance programmes.
Presenting the progress of the project to HUL.
Any other responsibilities as may be deemed necessary from time to time.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master’s degree in business administration, Agriculture, Rural Development, or related field.
Proven experience of 5 to 6 years in project management, business development, or agricultural operations, preferably in the FPO sector.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
Knowledge of financial management, market development, and regulatory compliance in the agricultural sector.
Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet project deadlines.
Experience working with farmers, FPCs, cooperatives, or rural communities is desirable.
Proficiency in MS Office, MIS and project management tools.
