About the Organisation:
The Banyan is a registered charitable trust established in 1993, committed to providing comprehensive mental health solutions for homeless individuals and those living in poverty with severe mental disorders.
We offer the following services:
• hospital-based services, through Emergency Care & Recovery Centres (ECRC) which offer multidisciplinary, person-centred, hospital-based care for homeless people with mental health issues to recover and re-enter stable housing and community living arrangements.
• inclusive living options, through Home Again (HA) supporting inclusive living options and mental health-friendly communities for homeless persons living with mental illnesses who cannot return to their homes.
• And NALAM, a community mental health program that offers holistic care starting from primary levels, led by grassroots workers who combine social care with mental health care and is supported by proximal community health clinics.
In Maharashtra, we are implementing the Home Again programme in Ratnagiri and NALAM in Aaghai, Thane District.
Roles and Responsibilities
Project Management: Managing and delivering the Home Again and other projects within the defined timelines, budget, and quality parameters. (Including planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring all project activities, including setting project objectives, developing project plans, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and managing risks and issues).
Team Leadership: To provide effective leadership to the team and staff members, including setting clear expectations, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a positive work culture. Ensuring that the team is motivated, engaged, and working collaboratively towards achieving project goals.
Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining strong relationship with various stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, vendors, and other relevant entities. (Including regular communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and managing expectations to ensure smooth project implementation).
Resource Management & Quality Assurance: Efficient allocation and management of resources, including personnel, budget, equipment, and materials, for the projects. Ensuring that resources are utilized optimally and identifying and addressing any resource gaps or constraints. Ensuring the are implemented in accordance with the defined quality standards, processes, and procedures. This could involve conducting regular quality audits, monitoring compliance, and taking corrective actions as needed.
Reporting and Documentation: Providing timely and accurate reports on project progress, risks, and issues to relevant stakeholders, including funder, senior management team and accounts team. Ensuring that all project-related documentation is maintained.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvements in the projects. Encouraging a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and improvement within the team.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management: Ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and guidelines during the implementation of the projects. Implementing and monitoring appropriate safety measures to safeguard the health and well-being of clients, team members and other stakeholders involved in the projects.
Staff Training and Development: Developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for the staff of the Home Again homes, including caregivers, support staff, and other relevant personnel. Ensuring that the staff is adequately trained on various aspects, such as care protocols, safety procedures, documentation, and other relevant skills, to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
Clinical and Medical Management: Clinical reviews with resident, care coordinator and personal assistant - offering inputs for individualized care and special interventions. Visit Home Again sites, conduct focus group discussions and ethnographic observation with residents.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
• MPH/MSW/Postgraduate Degree in Social Science field.
• Previous experience of up to 4 years in implementation of community projects
• Fluency in English, Marathi & Hindi is needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Maharashtra and also other parts of India, as needed.
