Background
World Health Partners (WHP) is a non-profit organization mandated to deliver holistic healthcare to underserved communities by innovatively leveraging available resources more efficiently. Evidence-based management and sophisticated technological solutions to work in extremely low-resource settings are the hallmarks of WHP’s programming strategy. WHP believes that it is unconscionable to divide resources on an ideological basis- such as public and private sectors- since low resource settings focus on collecting all existing resources to achieve better outcomes.
WHP’s operational strategy focuses on recognizing binding constraints in system of delivery and corrects them with the use of management systems and technology-based solutions. The long-term focus is to set up service delivery points that can sustain themselves by serving better-off segments at viable prices and use the same structure to deliver subsidized care to the poor with support from the government or donors. By aligning technology experts with program managers under the same roof, WHP has found that the solutions are more grounded, time-saving and cost-efficient. WHP has used technologies to connect rural communities with city-based medical personnel, mobile phones to track adherence and alerts, an interactive voice response system for demand generation and client empowerment, flow-casting solutions to track the movement of products, a looping process to interconnect suspect identification-tests-diagnosis-medicine release-adherence tracking-treatment completion and computer-aided differential diagnosis to assist doctors for standardized care.
