Job Description – Lead Social Worker- Restorative Justice and Practices Program

Job Status: Full-Time

Job Title: Lead Social Worker- Restorative Justice and Practices Team

Salary: Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with competitive industry standards and relevant work experience.

Job Role: The Lead social worker will manage the project indicators for restorative targets and outputs and assist the team in ensuring all project output indicators are met. They will also be responsible for writing and evolving project documents and proposals.

Location: Based in Delhi, with travel to project locations when required

Key Responsibilities

• Visiting specified JJBs and Observation Homes on a weekly basis;

• Relationship building and strengthening with JJBs and CWCs, and allied stakeholders in the child protection system;

• Using restorative process tools in conversations with children;

• Identifying children for restorative processes and conducting preparatory sessions and processes with them;

• Conducting home visits and follow-ups with families of identified children to support them through transition planning and transition support circles when appropriate.

• Follow up on accountability plans, connecting individual offenders from RJ pilot cases with support services;

• Documenting all sessions and processes conducted with children;

• Developing and updating resources on restorative justice and practices for stakeholders;

• Research assistance on a project on restorative justice related to its application in India based on best practices from around the world;

• Attending capacity-building and training sessions on restorative practices and justice;

• Planning interventions with the childcare institution staff and conducting capacity-building sessions on various themes

• Developing and facilitating training on relevant aspects of the project and, preparing training module content and providing follow-up support on training content (on topics such as trauma-informed care, child protection, case management);

• Drafting assistance for project toolkits, reports, and other restorative practices and justice deliverables.

• Facilitating training on reintegration circles as well as tools for its implementation;

• Providing handholding support for the implementation of restorative circles and reintegration processes;

• Supporting the team in implementing the program by providing implementation tools;

• Assisting the team in implementing the M&E tools;

• Monitoring M&E tools for project implementation and ensuring all targets are being met;

• Monitoring the status of team deliverables and supporting the team in implementation;

• Conducting debrief meetings with the team on different aspects of the program implementation, including restorative circles and reintegration circles;

• Working on progress reports on all project activities.

• Conduct other activities as required by your supervisor.

Requirements

• 2- 4 years experience working in the child protection sector;

• Postgraduate degree in social work, criminology, sociology or an allied field;

• Knowledge and familiarity with restorative justice and practices preferred;

• Understanding of child rights and laws in India;

• Demonstrated commitment to vulnerable sections of society;

• Proficiency in MS Office;

• Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams;

• Excellent time-management and organizational skills;

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi;

• Detail-oriented and efficient;
