Sericulture Specialist, B.Sc (Agri)/Diploma in sericulture with exp.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise in Sericulture:

• Provide guidance on sericulture practices, including silkworm rearing, mulberry cultivation, pest and disease management, and post-cocoon processes.

• Design and implement sustainable sericulture models suitable for the target community's context.

Capacity Building:

• Train farmers and field staff in advanced sericulture techniques, from mulberry plantation management to silk harvesting.

• Develop easy-to-understand training materials and conduct workshops.

Project Implementation and Monitoring:

• Assist in planning and implementing sericulture-related activities under the TDF project.

• Monitor mulberry farm health and silkworm rearing performance to ensure quality output.

• Identify challenges and provide timely solutions to enhance productivity and profitability.

Community Engagement:

• Work closely with tribal communities to promote sericulture as a sustainable livelihood.

• Address community-specific challenges and tailor solutions to local conditions.

Value Chain Development:

• Facilitate market linkages for silk products to ensure fair pricing and sustainable income.

• Support post-harvest processing, including silk spinning and grading, to add value to raw silk.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Maintain detailed records of sericulture interventions, progress, and outcomes.

• Prepare and submit regular reports to the project manager and stakeholders, including NABARD.

Innovation and Sustainability:

• Introduce eco-friendly and innovative sericulture practices to enhance environmental sustainability.

• Promote integrated farming approaches by combining sericulture with other agro-based activities.
