Harishchandrapur Pally Unnayan Samity (HCPPUS) was established in 2006 and has 18 years of experience working with the marginalized people of Malda and adjoining districts of the state of West Bengal.
The organization's administrative office is situated in village Ronthol, post-office. -Boroi, Police station-Harishchandrapur, District Malda, State-West Bengal, Pin-732140, India.
This is a state-level not-for-profit, non-political organization predominantly focused on wholistic community development and addressing the issues of rural Bengal. The organization tried to extend its assistance in every small and big matter like education, health, environment, sports, skill building, and empowerment.
With vast empirical grassroots experiences, we focus on rural communities, especially children, women, and non-formal workers, to bring socio-economic change. Our intervention is based on the philosophy that a community has its potentialities and resources, and we only can acknowledge and reconstruct those.
The organization also believes in a bottom-up approach where the organization works as a catalyst to empower the community and ensure sustainable development.
HCPPUS works with innovative approaches like understanding grassroots issues, diagnosing the problems, applying preventive measures, curative services, and systemic change, and adopting a holistic end-to-end strategy.
Our approach is community-centric, and our strategy is to strengthen the system through holistic intervention. The organization's prime objective is to create opportunities for the vulnerable community without discrimination, ensuring the means to lead a life with dignity.
To spread awareness among the stakeholders on various issues and provide need-based skill enhancement training. To come up with various poverty alleviation programs and ensure sustainable economic growth.

Their primary role is to design, implement, and manage strategies that effectively communicate information to various audiences to promote positive behaviors and awareness, typically in areas like health, education, and community development.

Job Position- One
Job Title: Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Expert
Job Location: (Raiganj Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal)
Reports To: State Project Head/Program Director
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy Development:
Develop IEC strategies and plans in alignment with organizational objectives and program goals (e.g., public health initiatives, education campaigns, community outreach).
Create communication frameworks that integrate informational, educational, and behavioral change goals.
2. Content Creation:
Develop and produce educational materials such as pamphlets, posters, social media content, videos, radio, and TV spots.
Tailor messages to various audiences, ensuring cultural relevance, clarity, and appropriateness of language.
Work with creative teams to produce multimedia content for diverse platforms.
3. Community Engagement:
Conduct community-based communication activities (e.g., workshops, focus groups, radio programs) to engage and educate target populations.
Promote and strengthen two-way communication channels between organizations and the community.
4. Training and Capacity Building:
Train project staff, community leaders, or volunteers on communication strategies, tools, and behavior change methodologies.
Provide technical assistance in the application of IEC methods during program implementation.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation:
Monitor the effectiveness of IEC campaigns and materials by collecting feedback, analyzing audience responses, and conducting surveys.
Use data and feedback to adapt and improve communication strategies.
Prepare regular reports on the performance and outcomes of IEC activities.
6. Collaboration and Coordination:
Collaborate with stakeholders (government agencies, non-governmental organizations, media, and others) to ensure that IEC activities are aligned with broader program goals.
Ensure that all IEC activities are in line with ethical standards and that sensitive information is communicated appropriately.
7. Advocacy and Public Relations:
Advocate for important issues through various media, events, and campaigns.
Develop partnerships with media, community groups, and institutions to ensure wide-reaching educational messages.
8. Research and Analysis:
Conduct research to understand target audiences’ needs, attitudes, and behavior patterns to inform communication strategies.
Stay updated on current trends in communication technology, media, and social behavior to ensure relevance and impact.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to adapt messages for different audiences.
Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and respect for diverse cultures and languages within target communities.
Creative Thinking: Ability to develop innovative communication materials and strategies.
Project Management: Ability to plan, implement, and manage projects efficiently and effectively.
Behavioral Change Communication: Understanding of the principles and strategies for influencing behavior change, especially in public health, education, and development sectors.
Analytical Skills: Experience in monitoring and evaluating the success of communication campaigns using surveys, feedback, and impact assessment tools.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with digital communication tools, design software, and social media platforms.
Qualifications:
A degree in Communication, Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
Experience working in IEC or similar communication roles (3-5 years preferred).
Familiarity with health education, community mobilization, and social behavior change models.
Experience working in multicultural settings or with marginalized communities is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time position (or specify part-time, contract, etc.).
• Will require occasional travel to project sites or community locations.
An IEC expert plays a critical role in ensuring that information is communicated effectively, leading to improved outcomes for individuals and communities.
