Position Description
Communications Officer
Reports to: Director of Programmes
Position Summary
The Communications Officer is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient internal and external communications, aligning with the Sambandh Way. The Officer facilitates a strong working relationship with the Sambandh Community Mental Health Programmes and collaborates with their teams. The officer works to maintain a visible and positive public image of Sambandh.
Core Responsibilities
• Create a workplan for timely communication with external stakeholders and coordinate the flow of information internally.
• Manage media outreach: arrange news conferences, press releases, media interviews and develop relationships with various media outlets.
• Collaborate with teams to create, edit, and distribute engaging content across various platforms, including newsletters, social media, the website, and press releases.
• Maintain master communication files (e.g., PPT presentations, community awareness materials).
• Ensure all media and consent forms are up to date and properly filed.
• Coordinate and contribute collaboratively to the content creation of monthly, quarterly, annual reports and donor reports.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals for funding and grant applications.
• Monitor media for mental health news and communicate key information to the team and families.
• Manage social media accounts; implement strategies to increase followers and develop social media campaigns with stakeholders.
• Support human resource work in coordination with the Director of Programmes.
• Ensure timely internal reporting to donors, government bodies, and other stakeholders, and follow up with stakeholders for partnerships.
• Maintain manual and electronic filing systems (e.g., member database, photo and video drive).
• Support and coordinate the development and production of educational materials and the annual report.
• Prepare and manage the budget related to administration and communication.
Specific Knowledge & Abilities
• Three to five years of experience working in communication role
• Experience in developing, writing, and editing communication materials (e.g., blog posts, social media content, press releases).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Hindi.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Canva.
• Experience in managing, planning, and coordinating media events.
• Proficiency with all social media platforms.
• Graphic design, video creation, and editing skills.
• Ability to coordinate with website developers and create content.
• Strong media and interpersonal relationship management skills.
• Photography skills.
Education
MSc in Communication or a related field
Salary
INR 45,000 to 50,000 per month.
