Sr. Consultant – Radiation Safety and AERB Compliance (Health Care Technology)
National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) has been set up under the National Health Mission (NHM) as an autonomous registered society, to channelize technical assistance and capacity building support to the states for strengthening the public health system. The NHSRC is also mandated to contribute to health policy / programme design and evaluation.
Since its inception in 2006, NHSRC has been a repository of knowledge and a center of excellence for its agenda. This organization has professional linkages with a plethora of domestic and international bodies involved in the field of Public Health. There have been a number of personnel who have served with NHSRC and gained invaluable experience enabling them to graduate to next rung of professional ladder. Vast exposure to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and its processes is a unique feature of NHSRC.

Working with a transdisciplinary team, you can discover, adapt, co-create and disseminate solutions to multiple challenges related to service delivery systems, universal primary health care, human resources for health, community processes, health financing, quality of care, public health planning and health promotion. This is an opportunity to support health systems strengthening at scale, learn from district and sub district implementation, undertake knowledge translation, and enable realization of the vision of universal health coverage.
This Position reports to Advisor-Healthcare Technology and is on Contractual basis.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Competencies and Experience:
• Shall undertake detailed assessment of the AERB Compliance status in the States/UTs and identify the enablers/ barriers for improving compliance.
• Shall work in close association with the Health Care Technology (HCT) division NHSRC and will report to Advisor HCT for the work to be carried out during the entire duration of contract period.
• The tour of duty will include visit to the States/UTs on as required basis for assessment of the AERB compliance in the public health facilities, and submit the visit report, findings, observations to ED-NHSRC through Advisor HCT.
• Desk review of AERB Compliance status among states/UTs and its validation on ground
• Liaise with AERB & State AERB officials for facilitating State/UTs in inspection, licensing & patient safety monitoring activities.
• Any other specific tasks related to the AERB compliance program as allocated by MoHFW/Advisor-HCT.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Post Graduate in science (M.Sc) from a recognized university, with physics as one of the main subjects .
• PG degree/Diploma in radiological physics or equivalent from a recognized university or have undergone ‘Radiation Safety’ course from Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) , SGS india or IARP.
• Minimum experience of 5 years & more in Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) related work post qualification.
• Experience working with NHM preferably Health Systems will be preferred.
• Published work in the area of devices/diagnostics/clinical research/systematic reviews or meta-analysis of published studies/trials on devices/diagnostics/ AERB Compliance Programme.
• Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, Power Point & Web surfing to search relevant data & documents.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Knowledge in Health systems development is desirable.
• Willingness to travel to states & districts to collect technical information and ability to subsequently synthesize information into research evidence.
• Formal Educational Qualifications could be relaxed for exceptional candidates.
Age Limit: 50 Years and below (Maximum age will be counted from the last date for receiving the applications)
Work Location: New Delhi; Opportunity to gain hands-on experience of public health canvas of states and districts.
Travel to states and districts will be involved.
Remuneration Range: Between Rs. 90,000/- to Rs. 1,50,000/-
(*Fee offered within the band will be commensurate with qualification and experience.)
Other Benefits: In addition to the remuneration mentioned above, Consultants of NHSRC are entitled to Free Accidental insurance, Subsidized Medical insurance, Mobile bills reimbursement, Laptop reimbursement (As per NHSRC Policy), 30 days Consolidated leave, fully paid Maternity leave (For Female Consultants) as per Government of India policy, performance linked increments, TA/ DA and per diem for on-duty visits.
Duration of Contract: Contract till 31st March 2026 with further extensions of similar duration (subject to satisfactory performance)
