The initiative:

  • Prayatn Sanstha is working with the community on different dimensions of social issues through Natural Resource Management, Soil and Water Conservation and Sustainable Agriculture Development as a part of food security initiative.
  • The project is being executed with most excluded communities in Baran district in Rajasthan. Through this initiative the organisation is trying to develop models of community owned and managed development processes.
  • It has also using one theme as a tool to address the issues of other theme i.e. addressing the issue of malnutrition through food security through farm based and non-farm based livelihood interventions, soil and water conservation etc.
  • In all the initiatives the organization is closely working with the community, organize them, form their institutions and prepare them to address issues at their level through community based systems and mechanisms.

Positions Overview:

  • This is a field-based position wherein the Agriculture Officer will be working under the guidance of the Project Officer with support of Field coordinators. The position of Agriculture Officer will be responsible for execution of the Agriculture development activities including sustainable agriculture development, Farmer’s field school, introducing high value crops, Integrated family farming systems etc. as planned in the project.
  • The position requires intense field visits to monitor and support the field activities with the involvement of the team members and provide necessary support in execution of the project activities.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate implementation of sustainable agriculture development activities at field level with the involvement of the local community.

• Providing hand holding support to the community to various cropping patterns and crop demonstrations;

• Developing farmer’s field schools at village level

• Providing necessary guidance from time to time to the farmers on different crops, irrigation techniques etc.;

• Preparing farmers to develop manure and pest control solutions from locally available material.

• Guiding the farmers on horticulture development and supporting them;

• Conceptualizing capacity building programs on sustainable agriculture development for farmers.

• Monitoring the progress of the demonstration crops and keep a track of the changes;

• Progress reporting, Review meetings, preparing thematic reports.

• Identify learning opportunities and document them;

• Coordinate within the team and with other institutions working on similar issues;

• Identify training needs of the project team members as well as of the partner community;

• Provide onsite support to the team members during the implementation;

• Development of learning programs for the team working at the field level;

Requirement:

  • Candidate should have a Master’s degree in Agriculture / Agri Engineering from a recognized university. The candidate should have minimum 5 years of working experience on livelihood Development issues with special focus on sustainable agriculture development initiatives. 
  • The candidate should have experience of taking issues for necessary convergence at various levels by working on and with children, communities, civil Societies and government departments.

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead the project activities

• Ability to plan and think strategically

• Strong analytical skills

• Excellent coordination and motivation skills

• Good reporting and documentation skills – both in Hindi and English

• Ability to identify team capacity building issues

• Knowledge of children’s issues especially on protection and education

• Hands on experience of community mobilization, capacity Building and Program Implementation

• Should be a good and quick learner

• Should be willing to travel extensively within and outside the project area

• Should be willing to be posted at a block level / sub-block level place

Nature of Employment:

  • The selected candidate will have the opportunity to get associated with the organization for a period of two years, which may be extended depending on the satisfactory level of performance and subject to availability of resources and continuity of the projects.
  • Compensation Offered: CTC 40,000 per month.

Location: Shahabad block of Baran district in Rajasthan.

Time to join: Candidate should be in a position to join within a week time.
