As per the 2018 NITI Aayog report, more than 600 million Indians still face extreme water stress. Water problems are always outrunning the solutions, and those getting affected the most - communities in rural India, are the farthest from these solutions. If we continue with the status quo, it will take us centuries to make India - water secure. Top-down solutions will not work. The change has to begin with keeping the community at the core of water solutions. Today, we have technology to help us reach these communities, make them visible, give them access to knowledge and data to arrive at solutions themselves. Digital tools allow us to do this at scale - faster, cheaper and better. It is possible to build capacities of communities in remote parts of India, so that they become part of a solution that works for their water problems at scale. We have to distribute the ability to solve.
