TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR HIRING INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER
Job Title: Instructional Designer
Department: Training, Learning and Development
Location: New Delhi or Gurugram
Type of Work: Consultant - Full-Time, Hybrid
Duration: 12 months
Reports To: Senior Program Manager, Training, Learning and Development
Job Overview
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for reviewing and revising online/offline course content to ensure it remains relevant, engaging, and effective. This role involves working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design high-quality learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Need Analysis:
Review and analyze feedback from course participants and stakeholders.
Design LNA strategies and tools to collect needs and skill gaps of the learners
Content Development:
Design and develop e-learning courses using multimedia elements, assessments, and interactive activities. Articulate 360 (Storyline & Rise) and other authoring tools.
Apply instructional design principles to enhance course effectiveness and learner engagement.
Create detailed storyboards, prototypes, scripts, and course outlines based on instructional objectives.
Stay updated on the latest e-learning trends and technologies.
Develop interactive and engaging learning experiences, incorporating quizzes, scenarios, Action Learning Programs, simulations, feedback collections, pre-post evaluations and multimedia elements.
Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gagné’s Nine Events) to course development.
Ensure all learning materials adhere to SCORM, xAPI, and accessibility (WCAG) standards.
Review and edit content to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with learning objectives.
Conduct user testing and quality assurance (QA) to refine and optimize learning content.
Stay updated with the latest LMS trends, instructional technology, and e-learning innovations.
Design and develop cutting-edge instructional materials that simplify AI concepts for learners at various levels.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with instructors and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and relevancy.
Collaborate with graphic designers, developers, and other stakeholders to produce high-quality training materials.
Collaborate with different vertical heads of the organization as per the needs.
Business Development:
Support Business Development team to develop new products and services around tech-enhanced e-learning innovations.
Support HR, Legal and other departments in improving the process trainings into engaging eLearning modules.
Create a knowledge hub where all employees get access to eLearning modules and other information resources.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s / Masters degree with specialization / certificate / course credits in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, and/or a related field.
5+ years of experience in instructional design or e-learning development, with a portfolio showcasing e-learning courses and instructional materials.
Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and LMS platforms.
Strong understanding of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), adult learning principles, and learner engagement strategies.
Experience with e-learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar.
Experience working with Artificial Intelligence models will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English.
Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
Lesson and curriculum planning skills
Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard
Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scriptsCreative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent documentation and analytical abilities
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively in teams, vulnerable communities, and with government counterparts.
