Project Overview
The SMART Schools Initiative in Harichandanpur Block, Keonjhar District aims to transform seven government middle schools by integrating digital learning facilities, enhanced WASH infrastructure, Mathematics & Science Parks, sports utilities, and dedicated mid-day meal sheds. The project addresses high dropout rates, poor digital access, and inadequate school infrastructure, ensuring quality, inclusive, and future-ready education. It aligns with NEP 2020, Digital India, and SDG goals, bridging the digital divide and fostering STEM education, hygiene awareness, and skill development. Through community participation, teacher training, and sustainable infrastructure, the project seeks to enhance learning outcomes and student retention in rural Odisha.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
1. On-Ground Project Implementation:
• Ensure the smooth execution of the SMART Schools Initiative across designated schools in Harichandanpur Block, Keonjhar District.
• Oversee the development of digital classrooms, e-libraries, WASH facilities, Mathematics & Science Parks, and mid-day meal sheds.
• Conduct regular school visits to monitor the progress of infrastructure upgrades, digital learning integration, and STEM activities.
2. Stakeholder & Community Engagement:
• Act as a bridge between schools, local government authorities, teachers, and the community.
• Facilitate regular meetings with School Management Committees (SMCs), parents, and community leaders to ensure active participation.
• Promote awareness campaigns on digital literacy, STEM education, and hygiene practices among students and parents.
3. Capacity Building & Training Support:
• Assist in training school staff and teachers on using digital learning tools, smart classrooms, and e-library resources.
• Conduct hygiene education sessions to ensure proper utilization of WASH infrastructure and improve sanitation practices.
• Organize peer-learning groups, STEM clubs, and after-school digital learning sessions for students.
4. Monitoring, Data Collection & Reporting:
• Collect real-time data on infrastructure development, student participation, and digital learning adoption.
• Maintain records of attendance, training sessions, and community feedback for evaluation purposes.
• Support baseline surveys, case studies, and impact assessments to measure project effectiveness.
5. Logistics & Resource Management:
• Ensure timely distribution of learning materials, STEM kits, digital tools, and hygiene supplies.
• Coordinate with vendors for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of digital equipment and school infrastructure.
• Assist in tracking fund utilization and material procurement for the project.
6. Compliance & Problem-Solving:
• Ensure that all project activities comply with safety, education, and government regulations.
• Identify challenges in infrastructure execution, digital learning adoption, and community participation and suggest solutions.
• Work closely with the Project Coordinator and Project Lead to implement corrective measures where necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE :
Education:
o Bachelor’s degree or diploma in any stream, preferably in Education, Social Work, Rural Development, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
o 2-4 years of experience in education projects, community development, digital learning, or infrastructure implementation.
o Experience in working with government schools, NGOs, CSR projects, or donor-funded programs in rural areas.
o Hands-on experience in monitoring school infrastructure development, including WASH facilities, smart classrooms, and STEM education spaces.
o Background in community mobilization, teacher training, and School Management Committee (SMC) engagement.
o Experience in coordinating with vendors, contractors, and government authorities for construction and digital learning setup.
