About Safe Society: Safe Society is a 19-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities with specific projects for Women, Children and Community through sustainable livelihoods, education, and healthcare initiatives.
About Shwet: Shwet is aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods for women artisans and handicraft producers from deprived communities. The program focuses on enhancing their skills, providing market access, and promoting entrepreneurship through through Common Facility Centres (CFCs) such as Chikankari Centres, Terracotta Facility Centres, and other handicraft hubs.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Thematic Lead to oversee the development and implementation of the SHWET program. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in project management, community development, and business development, with a focus on the handicraft industry. The Thematic Lead will be responsible for leading the program team, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring the program's overall success. He/She will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing innovative ideas, engaging artisans, marketing, liasioning and ensuring the sustainable growth of these centres.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the SHWET program team, providing guidance and support to ensure successful program implementation.
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve program goals and objectives.
Foster partnerships with key stakeholders, including artisans, handicraft producers, market players, and government agencies.
Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to artisans and handicraft producers.
Develop and manage budgets, reports, and other program documentation.
Ensure compliance with Safe Society's policies, procedures, and donor requirements.
Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and opportunities.
Develop and execute fundraising strategies and build networks with potential donors NGOs, corporates, and donors.
Develop strong relations in concerned government departments like Ministry of handicrafts etc.
Travel to project locations for monitoring, stakeholder meetings, and fundraising.
Take end-to-end responsibility for all actions and outcomes related to Shwet projects.
Overall monitoring of the project taking full consideration from Core team members.
Qualifications and Skills:
5-7 years of experience in project management, community development, or business development, with a focus on the handicraft industry or similar roles.
Proven track record of successfully managing programs, teams, and partnerships.
Strong understanding of the handicraft industry, including market trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software applications.
Fluency in English and Hindi (written and spoken).
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Social Work (MSW), or a related field.
Experience working with NGOs, government agencies, or private sector companies in the handicraft industry. (Preference will be given to candidate having strong linkages in within relevant Government departments.)
Knowledge of design, product development, and marketing principles.
Proven experience in government liaisoning and stakeholder management.
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Willingness to travel extensively.
