Grameen Development Services (GDS) was established in the year 1993 aiming at socio-economic empowerment of poor and disadvantaged section of society particularly women living in the areas of structural poverty in India through promoting and strengthening the livelihoods. Over a period of more than three decades, GDS emerged as a successful grass-root level professional NGO in the country. Its various livelihood focused initiatives have impacted the lives of approx. 1.25 lakhs rural households in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. Throughout its development trajectory, GDS has consistently responded to bring the social and development transformation for improving quality of life of people living in these areas. For the purpose, GDS as a learning organization gained relevant experiences by implementing various projects supported by renowned national and international partners.
GDS has been implementing a project titled “Sujalam Sufalam Initiative-Phase II- Sustaining agriculture-based livelihood services to small and marginal farmers in floodplains of Shravasti district, Uttar Pradesh” covering 20000 small and marginal farming households in Gilaula and Sirsiya blocks of Shravasti district (UP). Currently, GDS invites application for the post of ‘Project Manager’ from suitable candidates for the above project.
The Project Manager will lead the Project team at the above location under the overall guidance and control of the Project Director. S/He will provide leadership and overall guidance & monitoring for efficient management & administration as well. S/he will initiate and monitor the project interventions throughout the Project area and will be accountable to its success to the Executive Director of GDS.
Location: Shravasti district in Uttar Pradesh
Salary: Rs. 85000/-per month (consolidated)
Qualification & experiences
• Post graduate in Agriculture Sciences or Agri-Business Management from a reputed Institution.
• Minimum 10 years experiences in grassroot level agriculture development programme leading to Agribusiness promotion & management through Farmer Producer organizations in rural areas, including 5 years in a senior position at management level.
• Committed to work in rural areas
• Good analytical and communication skills
• Proficient in computer operation preferably working in MS Office
Age Limit – Between 35-45 Years (The candidate with birth date between 1980 to 1990)
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and guidance for day-to-day efficient management of the Project.
2. Ensure smooth and effective functioning of the community-based agri-business, monitor its activities in order to assess their impact in attaining the broader objectives of the Project.
3. Interfacing with various agencies, both government, non-government business ventures relevant to the project objectives and exploring support of various leadership groups for project implementation.
4. Coordinate with various development agencies and mainstream line department including District Agriculture & Horticulture department, Panchayati Raj department, UPSRLM, agriculture institutions etc. for mobilizing their support and convergence with relevant schemes & programmes.
5. Assessing needs of the Project team members and other target groups in terms of their capacity building, orientation on project deliverables, material requirement including agri-inputs, management development and taking effective steps for human resource development of the Project.
6. Undertake visits to field units, supervise their working and extend strategic, managerial and technical guidance for the smooth working of field programmes as per LFA & AWP of the Project.
7. Arrange capacity building of community institutions particularly GDS promoted FPC for business promotion through Agriculture Entrepreneurs & CRPs (local community volunteers) and monitor backward and forward linkages in support with Business Coordinator for the benefit of farmers.
8. Strengthen product clusters of high value crops (potato, onion, ground nut etc.) to enhance surplus for marketing at farmers’ level and monitor all supporting activities for agriculture & business promotion
9. Prepare periodic plan including AWP, quarterly & annual progress report and other information and ensure its timely submission to funding agency through Project Director.
10. Organize monthly/ fortnightly review meetings, identify gaps, suggest corrective measures for improvement, prepare minutes of the meeting and provide feedback on progress to Project Director from time-to-time.
