Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute) established during the year 2008 in Kodaikanal, is a registered non-profit government technical, training, research and development organization dedicated to providing practical solutions to tackle a wide range of water, sanitation and hygiene issues in India.

Over the years, WASH Institute has carved its niche in the field of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene as an expert through its quality training programs, Technical Assistance programs to the Government of India, grassroots programs, and research & advocacy. WASH Institute also has an academic wing that conducts formal courses at Reddiarchatram, Tamil Nadu in affiliation with the Madurai Kamaraj University. The Institute has a proven record of accomplishment in organizing National Workshops/conferences on various themes of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. WASH Institute is currently operating from different branch offices that are located in Reddiarchatram, Chennai, Madurai, Thiruppullani and Viralimalai (Tamil Nadu), Munger (Bihar), West Bengal, Bhadradari Kothagudem (Telangana), Noida and Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Malur (Karnataka), East Godavari district (Andhra Pradesh), Hindaun (Rajasthan), and New Delhi.

Name of the position: Technical Officer

No. of positions: 1 (Male)

Duty Station: Barpeta District of ASSAM.

Desired Qualification:

• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, often a B.E. or B.Tech, and equal degree.

• Diploma in civil engineering. Can apply.

Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in Civil engineering.

• 5 to 7 years of Experience in Diploma in Civil engineering.

Roles & Responsibilities: The Technical Officer would be responsible for the following (Not Limited):

• Planning and Designing the Community / School sanitary block construction / renovation plans in discussion with community, school authority and children.

• Providing technical support in implementing the construction related works in both communities and schools.

• Coordination with the contractor, masons on the plan / designs / estimates and about construction techniques / procedures for proper implementation of planned work.

• Assist and monitor the contractor, masons in foundation marking / setting up foundation for all new construction plans.

• Undertake regular field visits to construction sites for appropriate program monitoring on daily basis with special focus on quality work. This requires critical assessment and verification on the implementing activities with actual plan of work and provided necessary technical support and guidance, if required, for proper implementation.

• Undertake construction quality check in respect to quality of material used, foundation depth, mortar mix ratio, concrete mix ratio, wall alignments, perfection with measurements, horizontal and vertical levels, slopes, parallel and perpendicular checks, etc. and deployment of skilled masons to execute the work with proper finishing.

• Assist the contractor and masons to follow and comply with provided / recommended specifications for construction.

• Checking bills which are submitted by the vendors, record all the physical measurement in the MB books in proper way,

• Prepare technical drawings and estimates for any construction work as and when required, in discussion with WASH Institute Technical Expert.

• Assist the line manager in reporting and documentation, capture best practices and prepare case studies.

• Prepare and submit plan of action and accomplishment report to the reporting line on a monthly / quarterly basis.

• Support the reporting line officer to monitor and review the progress of the project and effectively act to meet necessary requirements relating to the program goals and objectives.

• Support the reporting line officer to accomplish the urgent assignments, if any.

• Undertaker any other task as assigned by the organization from time to time.

Languages:

Sound knowledge of speaking, reading and writing in English is mandatory. Preference shall be given to candidates with proficiencies in additional Indian languages.

Salary Package:

The annual Salary (CTC) will commensurate with the available skills and fitment of the incumbent as per the selection process.

The organization also has an Academy called the WASH Academy (previously known as the Formal Course Centre) in Reddiarchatram, Taml Nadu that conducts various One year and Two-Year diploma courses. The courses enable students to further their careers in government and private sectors as Sanitary Inspectors, Health Inspectors, Wastewater experts, Researchers etc.
