The Centers for International Projects Trust (CIPT), a research and development organization established by Columbia Water Center, Columbia University, seeks to design and implement water solutions in some of India's most challenging settings. In collaboration with government agencies, civil society, and private sector partners, CIPT is developing new models and research paradigms for effective water and energy management, food security, and climate resilience in various States of India. CIPT aims to provide rigorous, research-based knowledge as the foundation for its various field-based initiatives involving the local communities, government, non-government and private partners. It pursues a holistic approach to water sustainability assessment, sustainable agriculture, and farmers' livelihood and ecological systems management.
About the Position:
CIPT seeks a qualified Account Assistant to support a project “Building a Water-Efficient Agriculture Model across Punjab”. The project addresses the problem of over-exploitation, inefficient use of groundwater resources, and stagnating farm incomes in Punjab agriculture. The project will focus on expanding outreach, knowledge building, and promoting large-scale water use efficiency interventions in 12 districts of Punjab. The position is based in New Delhi. The Account Assistant will be responsible for providing accounting and reporting support to the project in accordance with CIPT policies and procedure. The candidate will assist the Finance Officer in accounting, transactions, budgeting, facilitating statutory audit and ensuring compliances. S/he will assisting district coordinators with overall project accounting from start to the finish of the project and taking ownership of the systems required for this.
Deliverables/Scope of Work:
Process financial transactions and maintain accurate daily records in Tally and organize vouchers, receipts, and payment records.
Review and clear bills, vouchers and travel expenses, ensuring all approvals are in place.
Assist the Finance Officer in managing financial documentation and collaboration with program and finance teams.
Verify vouchers and documents for accurate and timely payments.
Collect and manage documents through state office visits and perform additional duties as assigned.
Coordinate with field teams for timely submission of expenses and field sites for verifications.
Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Commerce, Finance, or related discipline from a reputed university/institution.
At least three years of accounting work experience in NGO.
Well versed with Tally, MS Office package and other related software packages.
Knowledge on the general financial policies, procedures, vendor management, compliance.
Verbal and writing communication skills (English and Hindi).
