Nirantar views literacy as a powerful tool for autonomy, self-expression, and access rights while challenging exploitation and social inequalities. We focus on building the capacity of organizations to provide empowering literacy programs, supporting them in planning, training, monitoring, and evaluation. Our literacy efforts center on women’s rights, needs, and interests, fostering a love for reading and opening new opportunities. To date, Nirantar has worked with over 30 organizations, impacting more than 45,000 women learners.
In today’s digital age, where technology like smartphones, computers, and ATMs is crucial for accessing information, Nirantar recognizes the importance of digital literacy. To address this, we are developing modules for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) that integrate literacy with digital skills, linking these to livelihood opportunities. This ensures women are equipped to navigate digital tools and enhance their economic potential, enabling them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Scope of Work:
1. Module Development: This involves designing and structuring educational modules that focus on literacy and digital literacy, with a special emphasis on practical applications for women, particularly in Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). It includes creating content that builds both foundational literacy and digital skills, ensuring the modules are easy to understand and relevant to the women's daily lives and work. The process requires thorough research, understanding the needs of the target audience, and developing tools that are interactive and practical.
2. Content Writing: This includes drafting, editing, and finalizing written materials for the modules. The content must be clear, creative, engaging, and tailored to the specific audience—primarily women in FPOs. It requires creating educational materials in Hindi ensuring the information is accessible and actionable. The content could range from instructional guides on technology use to educational resources on financial literacy and livelihood-related skills.
3. Working Closely with the Team for Designing and Co-creating Modules: Collaboration is key in this role, as it requires working closely with colleagues, experts, and other stakeholders to co-create the FPO modules. This involves brainstorming, sharing ideas, and incorporating feedback to ensure the modules are comprehensive and effective. Regular communication and coordination with the team will be necessary to align the modules with the overall goals and objectives of the project.
4. Any Assigned Work by the Team: This includes taking on additional tasks or responsibilities that may arise during the course of the project like testing of the module or training the module implementers on the ground.
5.Travel for project-related activities: The consultant will be required to travel to support the smooth execution of the designed project modules.
Essential Qualification:
1. At least five years of experience in developing educational modules, particularly for programs focused on women's empowerment, literacy, or livelihood development.
2. A postgraduate or Master’s degree in fields such as Agriculture, Agronomy, Women's Studies, Social Work, Education, or Rural Development.
3. Strong experience in writing and developing content in Hindi, with an emphasis on materials tailored for rural communities.
4. Hands-on experience working with women-led Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), with a deep understanding of their needs, challenges, and opportunities.
5. Experience designing gender-sensitive training materials and tools, with a focus on literacy, digital literacy, and skill-building.
6. Familiarity with grassroots organizations and community-driven projects, especially in rural or underprivileged contexts.
Desirable:
1. Experience working in educational initiatives with grassroots organizations, particularly in rural underserved communities.
2. Strong ability to multi-task, meet daily deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
3. Proven capacity to adapt to dynamic project needs and work in fast-paced, resource-limited settings.
4. Experience coordinating with diverse stakeholders
This consultancy will run from October 2024 to February 2025, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.
