Tdh’s mission is to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable children by direct support, advocacy, promoting child participation for the respect of their rights, strengthening communities and institutions to better respond to children’s needs. In over 30 countries, Tdh protects children against exploitation and violence, improves children’s and their mother’s health and provides emergency psychological and material support in humanitarian crises.

Tdh Foundation has been working in India since 1976. In India, Tdh Foundation has been registered since 2008 as a Liaison Office. Tdh’s main programme priorities in India are Unsafe Migration, Maternal and Child Health, WASH and Emergency response. Tdh implements projects through local partners in the states of West Bengal and Jharkhand and has plans to grow its programming in other states as well. Besides financial support, Tdh supports its partners with technical support and is involved in all stages of the project – from designing to monitoring and evaluation. Tdh works at a systemic level, engaging with formal and non-formal actors, Government, service providers, civil society organisations, communities, families and children themselves to ensure the care and protection of vulnerable children on the long-term.

About the Position:

The Resource Mobilization and Communication Officer will be responsible for managing all communication activities and donor relations for Tdh India. This role will focus on developing strategic communication materials, engaging with donors, and building relationships with key stakeholders. The candidate will be involved in the creation of content for various platforms, including social media, website, and reports, while ensuring consistent and compelling messaging that aligns with the organization’s mission. Additionally, they will lead efforts to secure funding by identifying potential donors, writing grant proposals, and maintaining long-term donor relationships. This role will also facilitate partnerships with media and government and other relevant stakeholders to elevate the organization’s visibility and impact.

This position will be based in Kolkata and will take the assignment in the field whenever required or requested by Head of Country Office (HoCO)-India.

Reporting: Head of Country Office- India

Regarding Employment Contract: Probation period is 3 months from date of joining is applicable.

Main Responsibilities

Overall management and responsibility of fundraising and grant writing & grant coordination for Tdh India,.

Responsible to develop, maintain and ensure implementation of fundraising strategy and other key fundraising documents (donor mapping etc)

Responsible for developing and maintaining key delegation communication documents in coordination with program teams.

Developing content for all platforms (website, social media, intranet and other external forums and stakeholders) 

Fundraising & Grant Management

Identify new donors’ opportunities, initiate and maintain relations with donors in collaboration with the Head of India, National Coordinators, and Program teams.

Lead and coordinate fundraising processes in India in partnership with the management team, external consultants (if applicable), and as per the guidelines of each specific call/donor, and ensure  and ensuring the Grant Acquisition Process (GAP) of Tdh is adhered to.

Lead and coordinate proposal and CN development, reports and all supporting documents, in close collaboration with Regional advisors/managers, National Coordinators, Programme & Finance teams, and other Tdh colleagues (HQ Lausaane) (where appropriate).

Actively Participates in the reflections and strategic development of the delegation and its careful alignment to institutional strategies and priorities.

Maintains and/or develops a professional network specifically related to the domains of Tdh’s intervention.

Strengthen partnerships with other I/NGOs, academic institutions and corporates in order to develop consortium bids.

When necessary, support due diligence checks on potential new donors.

Maintain a database of funding opportunities and update regularly the country management teams on funding opportunities and upcoming calls for proposals.

Maintain a database of External Consultants to be mandated for full grant writing of proposals for different key donors, institutional and corporate.

Ensure donors tracking tool and contact list is up to date.

Attend and particiapate in technical working groups related to communications and fundraising, and represent and present Tdh’s work at functions and events as requested by your line manager.

Develop and maintain communication documents for delegations to enhance Tdh positioning and visibility within the sector.

Provide any other such tasks as assigned my the Head India.

Communication & Content Development:

Develop high-quality communication materials such as pitch decks, Information

Education Communication (IEC) materials, brochures, articles, reports, and newsletters.

Oversee the organization’s social media calendar, create and publish content, and ensure alignment with communication goals.

Manage website content updates and overall content strategy.

Coordinate with internal project teams to ideate on social media and website content as well as source relevant content and information.

Maintain a list of CSR events and develop strategies to collaborate and participate in the same.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage with key stakeholders, including NGO partners, media, donors, and local institutions.

Collaborate with NGO partners, supporting them in award applications and showcasing their work to external audiences.

Build and maintain relationships with media to ensure visibility of the organization’s work and disseminate relevant news and achievements.

Support to HoCO Office:

Provide documentation support, ensuring high-quality outputs for reports, presentations, and other strategic documents.

Assist with correspondence, project documentation, and relevant communications.

Child Safeguarding Policy:

Commits to respect the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy.

Promptly report any CP concern/ potential violation in partner organisations to Head of India. 

Others:

To share responsibilities with other members of the delegation in the maintenance and upkeep of the office.

To undertake other related tasks that may be determined from time to time by the HoCO.

Be aware of and strictly abide by the security policy of the delegation.

Pro-actively report relevant observations related to security/safety issues to the Supervisor.

Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling narratives for various audiences.

Fundraising Expertise: Experience in identifying donors, writing grant proposals, and developing fundraising strategies.

Content Development: Proficiency in designing and developing various communication assets including brochures, articles, and social media content.

Digital Proficiency: Knowledge of content management systems, website management, and social media tools.

Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, media, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Project Management: Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.

Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, especially in documentation and content creation. 

Professional Competencies:

Commitment to effective resource mobilization

Analyses programme and context in a connected and comprehensive way

Has a practical knowledge of key donor mechanisms & priorities

Expected qualification and experience:   

Qualifications / Experience

Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

At least five years of experience with an international development or humanitarian organization in a similar role.

Proven track of successful fundraising and grant writing among international institutional funding agencies (ie ECHO, USAID, UN, DFID), private companies and CSR funding in India and Nepal.

Excellent competences in managing information, structuring and writing proposals and reports in order to produce high-quality deliverables.

Strong competence in producing quality communication materials for internal and external use, with strong, concise and impactful messages.

Strong knowledge of project design and experience in project development.

Fluency in English (reading, speaking, writing).

Knowledge of international development and non-profit sector trends.

Experience in working across cultures and in multi-country teams.

Ability to adapt, to be flexible and to cope with stressful situations and tight timelines.

Competent in MS Excel, word processing, Power Point is a must. Competence on tools useful in information management is preferable.

Skills in M&E is advantage
