Established in 1982, PRIA (Participatory Research in Asia) is a global centre for participatory research and learning based in New Delhi. PRIA’s work focuses on empowering excluded communities through capacity building, knowledge creation, and policy advocacy. Over four decades, PRIA has promoted ‘participation as empowerment,’ the capacity building of community organisations, and active citizen participation in governance. Initiatives are undertaken within the overall perspective of ‘making democracy work for all’—in the political system; fostering a democratic culture in families, communities, and society; and promoting participatory democracy. PRIA is seeking a Professional for its Urban Climate Adaptation Programme to support poor and marginalised communities in adapting to and becoming resilient against climate change in their daily lives. The Officer will conduct in-depth research and analysis of climate policies and frameworks (both local and global) to provide strategic advice on incorporating climate resilience actions and knowledge into PRIA’s field projects, capacity-building and training programmes, and participatory methods.
Required: Master’s degree in urban planning or environmental studies with a minimum of five years of experience (preferably in academic, non-profit, and research organisations) in cutting-edge research and in-depth analysis of the impacts of climate change. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).

• Initial appointment (consultancy contract) will be for 12 months, extendable for a longer period based on performance reviews.
