NalandaWay Foundation is a non-profit that works with children from disadvantaged communities in India, helping them raise their voices and issues through art. We endeavour to improve learning abilities, reinforce positive behaviour and help children soar high by enabling them to be creative and express themselves through visual and performing Arts.
Project Sakhi:
This programme seeks to support young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to become confident and independent young women through an extended engagement in various interventions focussing on multi-dimensional development - i.e. physical, mental, emotional, cognitive and livelihood.
The key responsibilities of the Associate - Project Sakhi are as follows:
Project Coordination:
• In consultation with the Project Manager, identify the area and institution for the
• intervention. Select the Sakhi girls participating in the intervention, conduct orientation sessions, and seek consent from the parents.
• Seek permissions from the relevant government departments and institutions to run the project, collate documentation, and get MoUs signed with the manager's support.
• Plan timetables; schedule and conduct Sakhi sessions with the selected girls regularly.
• Facilitate art-based sessions on SEL, Life skills, leadership, and other areas relevant to the outcomes of the project.
• Coordinate and schedule academic and expert-led sessions by subject matter experts in the school/ centre, following the concepts focussing on the expected learning outcomes for the month/year.
• Manage the team of external facilitators/ mentors, their schedules, and follow-up reviews.
• Create budgets for new activities and tutors and share them with the Manager for approval. Manage overall budgets for the project in the location.
• Visit and establish a rapport with the authorities/ staff in the institution/school/centre regularly
• Coordinate with the Manager for community events to showcase and apply what the selected girls have learned (organise performances, talent displays, etc.)
• Maintain all documentation, such as monthly, quarterly and annual reports and
• individual case records of the Sakhi girls, regularly.
• Establish a relationship with the Sakhi girls' caregivers/families and share programme details and their progress regularly.
• Conduct baseline and evaluation surveys as per the M&E plan and contribute to
• reporting.
• Capture stories, feedback, and photographs of the activities, maintain attendance and share them for reporting.
• Any other activities/tasks assigned by the Project Manager
General:
Documentation: Submit reports of weekly and monthly activities to your Manager/ Comms team. Collate photos/videos of programmes and share them with the communications team regularly. Manage all other documentation effectively.
Collaboration: Interact and participate with other Sakhi chapters across locations and with other project teams whenever required.
Relationship Management: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the students, schools, community, and others to achieve the goals of the organisation
Problem Solving: Proactively identify problematic situations and solve them with the help of your reporting Manager.
Self-Development:
• Spend a significant amount of time in the field to build a nuanced understanding of the project.
• Improve decision-making skills, adapt to situations quickly amid uncertainties and ambiguities, and recalibrate plans to realise the outcomes.
• Develop analytical abilities, team-building skills, and motivation skills to help organise resources, work under tight deadlines, manage tasks simultaneously, and generate maximum team performance.
• Be meticulous and extremely detail-oriented
• Develop a deep understanding of the domain and keep abreast of the developments and initiatives in the education and development sectors.
Qualifications:
• Female candidates preferred with Masters degree in Social Work or Psychology preferred
• At least 1-2 years experience of working in the social sector
• Ability to work with adolescents
• Based out of Delhi or ready to relocate
• Proficiency in written and spoken Hindi mandatory
