Job Description

The expert is required to manage the spatial database that already exists in MySQL and GeoPackage files. The data management includes data cleaning to make sure data is geometrically valid and up to date. The expert is responsible for managing a small GIS team based in the Araku Valley, Andhra Pradesh.

In addition to the GIS, one more major task is to use Remote sensing methods in monitoring the field based field farm activities. Example, using monitor crop cover using NDVI or change detection methods. The process to monitor is on an annual or bi-annual basis therefore required to set up an automated tool using R / Python / Google Earth Engine.

Tasks:

> GIS data management includes setting up protocols for data cleaning

> Maps creation i.e. visualization of location based data

> Remote Sensing analysis that includes vegetation index, land use

Software skills required:

> QGIS

> R or Python programming for remote sensing image analysis

> Google Earth Engine

> MYSQL or POSTGIS is advantage
