Position Overview
The Accounts Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting the finance team in budgeting and financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, organizational skills, and a commitment to promoting transparency and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and reconcile financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare and process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting, providing insights and recommendations.
• Generate financial reports and statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Support the finance team in audits and financial reviews, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Maintain records of all financial transactions and ensure proper filing and documentation.
• Handle payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Collaborate with operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget adherence.
• Provide support in grant applications and financial reporting to donors and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Tally) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong ethical standards and commitment to transparency.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
