Job Title: Program Officer – Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Reports to: Project Operations Lead – AMRSense / Public Health Specialist – Surveillance
About the Organization and Project
The Centre for Health Research and Innovation (CHRI), a PATH affiliate, is a partner in the AMRSense Project, a collaborative initiative involving esteemed institutions such as IIT-Delhi, ICMR, Tata 1MG, and CHRI-PATH. This project, which earned second prize in the prestigious Trinity Challenge on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), seeks to establish a socio-technological ecosystem to empower community health workers, integrate antibiotic sales and surveillance data, and utilize advanced analytics for evidence-based decision-making.
The Program Officer – AMR will play a critical role in ensuring the successful rollout of AMRSense interventions and advancing the goals of the National and State Action Plans on AMR containment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical and Programmatic Support:
• Lead the strategic and operational implementation of AMR-related interventions in alignment with the National Action Plan for AMR Containment and State Action Plans.
• Provide technical assistance for developing and executing state-level initiatives, including the preparation of operational guidelines and policy recommendations.
• Develop and customize training modules and lead capacity-building activities for stakeholders, with a focus on strengthening AMR surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection prevention and control.
Project Coordination and Rollout:
• Oversee the rollout of AMRSense interventions in designated states or districts, ensuring seamless integration with existing health systems.
• Coordinate with partners such as IIIT-D, Tata 1MG, and state health departments to implement project activities and monitor progress.
• Support the development and adaptation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and technical documentation for combating AMR.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:
• Collaborate with government agencies, healthcare institutions, and development partners to promote awareness and advocacy for AMR containment.
• Represent the project in high-level meetings, technical discussions, and forums, effectively communicating program insights and progress.
• Identify funding opportunities and contribute to the development of grant proposals to support AMR initiatives.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
• Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to assess the effectiveness of AMR interventions.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and communication materials to document achievements and share lessons learned.
• Analyze data and utilize visualization tools to generate insights and evidence for decision-making.
Training and Capacity Building:
• Conduct technical training sessions for healthcare professionals and laboratory staff to enhance their capacity in AMR surveillance, laboratory methods, and One Health approaches.
Other Responsibilities:
• Perform additional duties as required to support project goals and organizational objectives.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
• Essential: MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, or MSc in Microbiology.
• Preferred: Master’s in Public Health (MPH).
Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience working on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Antimicrobial Stewardship, or One Health initiatives.
• Candidates with an MSc in Microbiology and MPH are preferred to have at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in One Health or AMR projects is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
• In-depth understanding of One Health and AMR technical and programmatic frameworks.
• Strong project management skills, including stakeholder coordination and partnership building.
• Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools.
• Ability to write high-quality technical documents such as guidelines, SOPs, training materials, and reports.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to independently liaise with government health departments and development partners.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
Other Requirements:
• Legal authorization to work in India.
