Aajeevika Bureau seeks to recruit two experienced and committed colleagues to join the India Labourline (ILL) as Tele counsellor. The India Labourline is a phone and field based programme to provide information, counselling, distress support and legal aid to informal workers throughout India.
It is also a powerful Grievance Redressal Forum to address labour rights violations faced by all categories of waged and self-employed workers in the construction, factories, urban services, Garments & Textiles, farm work, street vending, and other sectors.
ILL helps thousands of workers resolve their wage disputes and ensures that they do not lose their rightful earnings to fraud and theft. ILL is operationalised by Aajeevika Bureau and a network of civil society organisations working on labour issues across the country. Roles and Responsibilities:
We are seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Tele-Counsellor at India Labour Line, Bangalore. The responsibilities include handling calls on the helpline, managing ongoing calls, providing initial counselling, documenting cases, following up on missed calls, registering new cases,
and ensuring effective follow-up on all cases. Candidates with proficiency in at-least any two regional languages such as Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, or Telugu, are preferred. Basic Hindi and English is mandatory. Familiarity with Bengali is an added advantage.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing incoming calls to India Labour Line and providing immediate counselling and guidance to workers.
Attending to calls on the helpline and calling back missed calls to ensure no issue is left unattended.
Documenting essential information and facts related to each worker’s case and ensuring accurate registration of labour disputes.
Facilitating the transfer of cases to relevant case managers for follow-up actions.
Conducting follow-up activities on registered cases and referring cases to appropriate departments and NGO networks as necessary.
Maintaining comprehensive documentation and records of all cases and preparing reports on case progress and outcomes.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Fluency in any two regional languages, such as Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, or Telugu.
Basic knowledge of Bengali is beneficial.
Proficiency in basic Hindi is mandatory.
Familiarity with regional accents from North Indian Hindi-speaking regions is advantageous.
Ability to read and write basic English is mandatory.
Strong counselling and communication skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.
Willingness to enhance knowledge through studying labour laws, policies, and relevant resources, and participating in capacity-building training.
Basic computer skills are required for data entry and documentation, with proficiency in Excel essential for efficient case management and reporting.
Comfortable managing continuous calls and committed to advancing knowledge and skills in labour rights.
The remuneration for the Case Managers will be in the range of Rs. 2.8 – 3.5 lakhs p.a–this is negotiable based on the applicants’ competence and experience.
