JOB SUMMARY
As the Manager - Program Development, will play a pivotal role in driving the organization's initiatives forward. Utilizing expertise in proposal writing, project management, and community engagement tools like Participatory Rural Appraisal, the manager – Program Development will craft compelling proposals and oversee projects, ensuring their successful implementation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Crafting well-structured concept notes and project proposals, aligning with organizational guidelines and priorities, demonstrates strategic planning and communication skills.
Generating innovative program proposals within specified deadlines showcases creativity and adaptability in addressing evolving needs.
Identifying suitable partners and conducting assessments based on local program needs underscores the ability to establish collaborative relationships.
Visiting project sites to gain firsthand insights, documenting practices, successes, and challenges reflects a commitment to continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
Cultivating and sustaining relationships with external stakeholders demonstrates networking and partnership-building skills vital for program development.
Leading the Competency Based Assessment (CBA) initiative highlights expertise in skills assessment methodologies, contributing to program effectiveness.
Representing Orbis at events and conferences showcases the organization's presence and promotes networking opportunities.
Ensuring the timely completion and submission of high-quality work outputs indicates efficiency and attention to detail.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Manager - Program Development directly reports to the Associate Director - Programs, playing a vital role in the program team. Close collaboration with program teams in India, Nepal, and Indonesia is fundamental, ensuring seamless and effective program development. Additionally, active engagement with global programs, MEL, and Telehealth & Program Technology teams fosters collaborative initiatives and ensures the implementation of unified strategies. Engaging with colleagues across Orbis offices worldwide further strengthens collaboration, enabling impactful program development and cohesive organizational growth.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Postgraduate degree/Masters in social sciences or public health, or management.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the development sector, demonstrating practical expertise and a deep understanding of program development dynamics and challenges.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficient in crafting compelling and well-structured proposals, showcasing a keen understanding of project goals and objectives.
Skilled in overseeing projects, including knowledge of log frames, budgeting processes, and project implementation methodologies, ensuring successful outcomes.
Experienced in utilizing tools like Participatory Rural Appraisal for developing community proposals, demonstrating a deep understanding of community-driven development approaches.
Proficient in managing relationships with donors, ensuring effective communication, reporting, and adherence to donor requirements and expectations.
Fluent in spoken and written English, with a good working knowledge of Hindi being desirable, facilitating clear communication with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills, combined with strong organizational abilities, enabling seamless coordination and collaboration within teams and external partners.
Proficient in using MS Office applications, demonstrating technological competency for efficient documentation and communication.
