Sr. Program Associate – Project Shiksha

Tenure: 3 months (with possibility of extension up to 1 year)
Salary: Up to Rs 35,000 per month

About Project Shiksha:
Project Shiksha aims to conduct a needs assessment of Zilla Parishad (ZP) and low-end private schools in and around Boisar city, Palghar district. The goal of the project is to understand the current state of education in these schools and to implement interventions designed to build the capacities of these institutions. Ultimately, this will improve the educational outcomes for primary and secondary school children in the region.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and skilled Program Associate to support the implementation of Project Shiksha in the Boisar area. The Program Associate will play a crucial role in conducting needs assessments, working directly with school administrators, teachers, and Education Officers, local stakeholders, and supporting interventions that enhance educational quality and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Needs Assessment:
o Conduct detailed assessments of ZP and low-end private schools in Boisar and surrounding areas, focusing on understanding the strengths, challenges, and requirements of the schools.
o Gather data on infrastructure, teaching methods, curriculum, teacher qualifications, and student learning outcomes.
o Compile and analyze assessment data to generate insights and report findings.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Build strong relationships with school leaders, teachers, local education officials, and other relevant stakeholders to understand their needs and support project implementation.
o Facilitate meetings and discussions to engage stakeholders in the project and its objectives.
3. Intervention Implementation:
o Design and implement targeted interventions aimed at building the capacities of schools.
o Support the development and delivery of infrastructure enhancement initiatives, teacher training programs, curriculum interventions, and
o Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to ensure improvements in educational outcomes.
4. Monitoring and Reporting:
o Regularly track progress against project goals and timelines, ensuring the successful execution of activities within the 3-month tenure.
o Prepare periodic progress reports for the Ekam Foundation management and other key stakeholders.
o Collect feedback from schools and stakeholders to refine interventions and ensure sustainability of outcomes.
5. Field Support & Travel:
o Travel within the Boisar region and surrounding areas as required to support schools and facilitate project activities.
o Provide on-ground support to teachers and local stakeholders in the implementation of interventions.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in educational program implementation, preferably in rural or under-resourced school settings.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by primary and secondary schools in India, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools is a plus.
• Fluency in Marathi and Hindi is preferred.
• Must own a two-wheeler and have a valid driving license to travel within the project area.
