Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation
Encourage all stakeholder including the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Gram Panchayats, Urban Local Bodies, Water User Associations, Institutions, Corporate Sector, Individuals etc. for adopting innovative practices of ground water augmentation by rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge, promoting water use efficiency, recycling & re-use of water and creating awareness through people's participation in the targeted areas resulting into the sustainability of ground water resources development, adequate capacity building amongst the stakeholders etc.
Eligibility :
Any State, District, Village Panchayat, Urban Local Body, Media, School, Institution, Industry, Non-Governmental Organisation or Water User Association which has done good work in the field of water conservation and management is eligible to apply.
Decoration :
(i) Trophy and Citation will be given for Best State & Best District.
(ii) Cash prize will be given to the awardees with Trophy and Citation in Best Village Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body, Best Media, Best School, Best Institution for campus usage, Best industry, Best NGO for water conservation, Best Water User Association and Best Industry of CSR.
(2 lakhs - 1st rank, 1.5 lakhs - 2nd rank &1 lakh - 3rd rank)

Selection Process :
All applications received for 4th National Water Awards are placed before the Jury Committee which is constituted by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. No Award is conferred except on the recommendation of the Jury Committee. The recommendations of the Committee are submitted to the Hon’ble Minister (Jal Shakti) for approval. Thereafter, the names of winners are announced on a suitable date.
