Domestic help placement agencies in Delhi have begun sex trafficking young women from the tribal belts of Chhattisgarh, said a Delhi-based non-governmental organization (NGO) that didn't wish to be named for fear of reprisal.
The NGO said it made this determination after conducting sting operations. It added that two of ten women brought from these tribal areas who can't find a domestic help job, are pushed into sex work.
Of 500 domestic help placement agencies in Delhi, each agency has between 10-15% of women from Chhattisgarh. They are gang-raped by the agents they know from their native places, video-recorded and blackmailed to make them used to the customers," said an activist from the Delhi NGO. "Often their recordings are sold off to porn markets as well to make more money," the activist added.
Rakesh Senger of Bachpan Bachao Andolan told TOI said that these young women from tribal areas are too scared complain to the police and that makes it difficult to take action against pimps.
