City's first garbage gallery with installations made from e-waste collected by ragpickers.
It is is an attempt to educate the residents on e-waste management by Stree Mukti Sanghatana, a 40-year-old women's rights organization along with corporate assistance.
The organization has an ongoing training programme for ragpickers. They are trained not just to segregate e-waste but also to separate wet and dry garbage. They have already trained 4,000 ragpickers and will be inducting more into the programme.
The installations made from the waste will be on a permanent display at their centre in Koparkhairane. "We call the exhibit the Story of Waste and on display will be panels, murals and model samples of waste," said Jyoti Mhapsekar, president and one of the founding members of the organization.
