NGO starts signature campaign to save trees

Social activist and founder of Harit Navi Mumbai, Arati Chauhan, has started a campaign to create awareness about 'deconcretizing and saving trees'. The campaign is on to request authorities to come up with more tree plantation drives and protect the existing 30-year-old trees in Vashi, Nerul and other nodes, which are dying due to paver blocks and concrete footpaths. More than 100 trees in every node have got concretized base in the name of city beautification, which is killing them, said Chauhan.
She has already written letters to the civic commissioner and deputy commissioner, citing her grievances on concretization around the trees' base in the name of beautification.
