Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) has won the Apex India CSR Excellence Award for its outstanding achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Apex India Excellence Awards 2017 presentation ceremony held in New Delhi, recently.
Besides, S. K. Acharya, CMD of NLCIL, was awarded ‘The Apex India CSR Icon of the Year 2017’ in honour of his years of dedication, innovation and wise diplomacy in the area of CSR and for maintaining the highest standards.
Dr. Acharya, Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) and R. Vikraman, Director (HR), received the award from Moshpa Tangaraja, President, Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health Practitioners’ Association, Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament, Kuldeep Singh, Chief of Apex Foundation, and P.K Saigal, defence expert, at the awards ceremony.
The organisation received the excellence award for having CSR practices embedded in the company’s core motto ‘Creating Wealth for Well being,’ its dedication to community engagement and following socially responsible business practices.
Several innovative schemes — Jal Paryapth, Jal Dhara, Jal Uday — focusing on water conservation and supply have been introduced by NLCIL, for which Dr. S.K. Acharya has been instrumental.
He has also drawn up a CSR narrative by encompassing the entire gamut of socio economic development for the betterment of peripheral areas.
